Hi fellow MFC members!
Okay, so my boring story for today is about my figure cupboard, one of my two ways to display my figures in my room (along with an open shelf).
Last time I took a full shot of it dates back to last year (with a partial update shot ten months ago PICTURE #942508). It looked like this:

Since I had ITEM #17388 and ITEM #94903 sitting in their boxes for several months, got ITEM #656 as a present from one of my relatives this Christmas, and thus wanted to display them all, I decided to rearrange my figure cupboard to see if I could put them in.
While I was at it, I went and first dusted off the cupboard and all the figures inside. That was needed, it's been six months since I haven't done it, as you can see (only showing you the worst cases):

And now photos after the dust clean-up. Much better indeed:

With all the figures removed with the cleaning, it helped a lot to find a new arrangement that could fit all the figures in. This is how my cupboard looks like now.

I'm overall satisfied with the updated arrangement. A higher riser for Shiori, Hikari and Saber would be great though, at something like the same height of red bikini Rin so they're better showcased compared to the figures in front of them. I'll have to work on this.
(Also, the Dancing Blade trading figures are in a tentative setting, I consider moving them to the open shelf. Speaking of the shelf, since the updated shot from ten months ago I moved Eltshan there, I ultimately didn't find the place for him in the cupboard, he's the only one in that case.)
Thanks for reading! If you too have any little stories or anecdotes about figures display and dusting, please do not hesitate sharing them in the comments! ^_^

No worries, I understood what you meant. :p
Yeah, and when you have really large ones like 1/4 scales and above, it's even more difficult to do the cleaning, you have to be very careful when moving and handling them. You can't imagine the maniacally careful way I took out and laid down my 1/4 bunny girl figures during the dusting process! ^^'''
JudgementBoy • 8 years ago • #2586466Don't feel bad about not having time to dust, by the way! RL stuff happens, it's totally understandable. Dust is the enemy of us collectors after all. 8)
I like how your new setup looks, good job!
Thanks! :)
victorviper • 8 years ago • #2586595I thought it was interesting that you got Sasara ITEM #656 as a gift from a relative. Relatively speaking, that's a fairly old and obscure figure.
If any of my relatives handed me that Sasara as a gift, however, I'd be over the moon :).
There's an explanation behind that, actually. That relative knows I like video games/anime related stuff, and wanted to offer me a figure, and thus asked me a list of figures I'd be interested in. So I gave that relative a list of around 40 possible figures at low/reasonable price range to choose from, among which that Sasara figure was in. And indeed, I was very happy my relative picked that one in the bunch! ^_^

I'm super bad about dusting/cleaning my figures too. I'm adding a new shelf to my display soon so I'm thinking I will take down all of my figures to totally rearrange (and repose since I collect articulated figures).
Thanks! I like bunny girl figures a lot, and there are a number of them I'd like to get (some of them will be a challenge though, such as ITEM #90073).
As for the theme arrangement, my ideal setting would have been to reverse ITEM #144350 and ITEM #179325 's positions for a seamless theme flow between ITEM #144574 and ITEM #656 (especially with Sasara, since she's a school swimsuit girl with an apron, making a great transition between Nyarko and ITEM #130978), but Nyarko was obscuring Shiori and Hikari behind way too much with how tall she is, so I had to give up here).
And regarding the male figure in the middle, my previous display actually had this idea! See the partial update shot, taken between the two full shots: PICTURE #942508. As I told in the photo's description, the way Eltshan is posed makes him look like as if he's peeking at Manaka's butt! :p Too bad I was unable to keep that joke setting... :(
pacificrimming • 8 years ago • #2586271this reminds me i have to dust my figures OTL. congrats on your set-up though! i also have a cupboard-like setup- i have an ikea cabinet that's separated into six "boxes" and three of the boxes have figure stuff.
I'm glad that at least my self-shaming is useful to you for your own figures :p
PACIFICRIMMING, the set-up you're talking about reminds me of the one I have in another part of my room, but the cases on there are used to store my books, CDs, and video game hardware instead of figures.
Sodom • 8 years ago • #2586258I can't stand it ... this dust .. it's to much for my heart O_O
I hope that seeing the cleaned-up photos gave you a sigh of relief then. -_^

Truth to be told, I'm not exactly proud about this myself, but I wasn't about to hide it either. Those last months were quite eventful RL-wise, didn't have the time to sit down and work on that crowded display until now, unlike my much more accessible open shelf which I clean regulary (every week, or two at most). :/
I take care of their figures on a monthly.
My figures never go outside (even on the balcony), even a drop of water on them not fell. I'm not even talking about the fact that I collect figures in special gloves to avoid being touched by hands. ))
