LyncfsFreeing OTS-14 Dinner Dictator, Heavy Damage Ver. 1/4 Scale Figure Review
It's been so long since I've done a figure review, but I'm back with a wonderful figure for your enjoyment.
When I saw this figure go up for pre-order, I just had to get her. I love OTS-14's design and this lovely pose makes her seem like she is in the middle of a shoot-out, while she was caught spying at a fancy cocktail-party a la James Bond. I own several OTS-14 figures such as her Reverse Studio black gown one and her Apex red gown version (both not on database). However, this is my largest scale figure of her.
Sculpting - 9.0
The sculpt and most importantly her face, are true to prototype and there are a few exquisite touches such as her pearl earrings and shoes. She loses some of the finer details due to her size, such as her lariat and dress fringes which look a bit like shapeless blobs. However, due to her size and the price point, this is expected.
Painting - 9.0
The gradients and shading on her hair are wonderful. I'm not a big fan of the shiny gloss they picked for her dress as it doesn't look like fabric, but you can't tell when staring at the overall figure from a distance. I had one small blip of excess paint on her hair, but it wasn't too bad. My copy didn't have any paint bleed or messy painting on her dress. Her shoes are lovely and the color matches her red dress. I noticed on my Apex version that she has black shoes, so not sure if Freeing decided to change the color to coordinate.
Posing - 10.0
I love how Freeing chose an illustration that had her in mid action. With her gun and her hand clutching her side, you can really imagine she's stuck in a corner in the middle of a firefight with enemy agents. There were complaints that her dress was floating on the prototype, but it's not noticeable on the final product.
Base - 9.0
Freeing did a marvelous job incorporating the pillar and having her red dress spread out over the base so it doesn't look too empty. She comes with a plain beige base, which is characteristic of freeing. However, what spices this figure up is the amazing pillar that she leans on. It has a lot of scratches and gouges, which makes it feel like the pillar is made of real limestone. The design of the pillar is also ingenious in my opinion. The pillar's two pegs are popped into a half moon circle and then the remaining two pegs are connected to the base so that the pillar is just supported and sticking out a little. Bravo to Freeing for not making a huge figure take up even more space by extending the base to support the pillar in an oval shape.
Packaging - 7.0
The box is fitting for her size and measures 16"wide x 16"length x 11"high and weighs 4.5 KG according to GSC. The box itself doesn't have a transparent window, so she can't be displayed inside the box. It has pictures of the figure itself on the sides, but no artwork. One thing to note, the figure comes in 2 blisters. One holding her base and pillar and the other with Groza and her gun. It's rather difficult to slip the blister back into the box once unpacked, but nothing was damaged while in transit.
Assembly - 8.0
The single peg to align her foot was a bit hard to put in because part of the dress blocks the hole. You have to scoot her dress over and look at the base from the side until you hear a a distinct pop before it goes into the base. Her gun assembly wasn't too hard, and there are actually two gun handles to choose from. The brown handle in the front slips into her hand, while the gun wedges behind her arm. Per the instructions, her index finger should be near the trigger.
Enjoyment - 10.0
The OTS-14 design is one of my favorites of the 1/4 statues I own. Given the details and size, and the weak yen, Freeing did an amazing job delivering her despite the 6 month delay. In the future, I can see her price skyrocketing once stock is out, since she is one of the few non-bunny figures Freeing has produced. I would highly recommend this figure to any 1/4 scale collector or fans of bishoujos. She is a stunning piece and deserves a spot in your collection.

Yes, the dress does seem like a puddle of blood now that you mention it! Yikes.
I always thought it looked like blood and that small detail is my only issue with it, otherwise she is gorgeous.
I definitely agree - the aftermarket on this one is likely to be very painful.
I love the Apex version too. Mine came with an extra clear poster of her in this pose which was a pleasant surprise. I thought about doing a shot with all three, but it was hard to get my other two out of the cases. She does take up space, but not as badly as some of the lying or sitting down bunnies.

This is one of her best figure IMHO. And as mentioned, this is like a James bond feel.
Reminds me of Full Metal Panic when Mao went under cover on a similar dress and turned into a full on firefight with the mafia.
The price is definitely steep.
Will have to see if I can get her!

The Apex version has a very nice balance of accessories and mood, but the pose on this one is a lot more dynamic.
