Bootleg FindersHunting bootlegs one figure at a time!
Bootleg Finders
This club is dedicated to finding bootlegs and preventing people from buying them. What's a bootleg? Broadly speaking, it refers to any item/media/etc. that is reproduced and sold without licensing or taxation; it is an illegal business! Many places sell bootleg figures and media because they are cheap to reproduce and have a bigger profit turnover. Sellers take advantage of both new and old collectors alike with this business. The goal of this club is to educate and prevent members of My Figure Collection from falling for bootlegs.
If you find products you think are bootlegged, are not properly marked in our database, or aren't linked here please post or let a MOD or ADM know so we can change it.
For an ongoing list of Ebay bootleg sellers please check this thread: club/139/discus...

Some common signs of bootlegs and a bootleg seller:
• Price too good to be true (e.g. $40 USD for a figure that normally retails for $100-$150 USD)
• Shiny, fake plastic looking skin or parts
• Noticeable seams, details seem to be missing, parts may not be molded correctly, eyes look different than original figure
• Lack of a holographic sticker (may or may not be true, some official products lack official stickers as well)
• Jointed figures (Nendoroid, Figmas, Figuarts...) may appear loose or like they're about to fall apart
• Seller lists other known bootleg products or other large amounts of cheap merchandise (jewelry, electronics, etc.)
• Seller's username is a combination of random letters/numbers (e.g. 1327198, xmg50427867-4)
• Listing does not state the company or that the figure is legitimate. They may use phrasing such as "China version, China original, China homegrown product", terms such as "new PVC statue, PVC figure, 100% High Quality Brand New", or nothing at all

If i recall there was also a person on MFC trying to sell them. I am also not sure if those count as bootleg, the sites rules doesn't seem to capture them Faq #107
Personally i would say, they are neither. Not a bootleg perse, but not official either, as they were not really released due to their quality, if that makes sense? Maybe it's just called a defective/ flawed copy? I guess the best thing to compare them with is like people selling those defective bodies for which they have received a non defective replacement. When they send you a new body but not a box or accessories so you are left with 1 defective part which can be sold for a lower price. Except they're usually complete. A good example is this revy perhaps: ITEM #790887

Alieexpress has genuine figures but it depends on the seller.late reply but I'm 99% sure I know where that bunny was bought. There is 1 seller on TaoBao/ali whatever, same person. He sells stuff from FREEing's factory which most likely didn't pass QC or was left over I suppose. Always without a box and usually some assembly is required. They are genuine FREEing figures but on the other hand, I guess they aren't? What does one classify this kind of thing under anyway. It's not really a bootleg since it's the official figure from the FREEing factory but it didn't leave the factory through the official route so what does that make it?

The price seems reasonable, and the seller seems good, but just wanted a second opinion before I buy it.

There are photos under the bootleg category PICTURE #3030884 (pictures.php?it...) outlining the differences, but there is currently no "counterfeit alert" on the figure's page.
Edit: Alerted the entry.
Is this a bootleg? I've been looking for this figure for cheap for some time, and I finally came across this. I'm extremely doubtful as to whether or not it's a bootleg, though... please help! Thank you!
I don't have ebay link as I live in Indonesia. But we have Shopee.id which connects Chinese sellers with Indonesian buyers.

Bootleg for item #664451 (Funko Zinogre) and item #664450 (Funko Rathalos).
For more info, bootleg Rathalos is practically gone. But bootleg Zinogre is still being sold. There are NO bootleg "markings". Thus it is very hard to distinguish it.
NB: I put Shopee link as proof but the system purges it. Oh well...
