Critism is fine but it must be fair critism and calling this particular figure's market "predatory" is not fair. what I meant by "the buyers setting the price" is that if no one is buying it then the seller wouldn't be setting such a high price for it to begin with, or at the very least be forced to lower the price over time to make the sale.
I know what a free market is, i also do get the concept of how prices come to be. The statement is neither right nor wrong as objective opinions are free to all people (just like free market is with prices) but in my eyes it is at least not a surprise that comments like this arise. It is not deniable that people do enjoy making big profit with this figure. People wanting stuff for "sentimental reasons" or whatever often feel offended with stuff like that. I understand the "unfair" coming from both sides.

This is exactly right. Sellers can't just make up or "invent" prices if they want items to actually sell. The prices and value of a figure (or any item) are ultimately dictated by the market and demand. The figure is worth what people are willing to pay for it.
