FGOWhale2Win1 day ago#111329249I can understand that, but I'm at a point in life where I want the things I've bought ASAP. I really don't mind paying the extra for a quick service and actually prefer that; the longer time in transit the more likely it could get damaged or I'm stressing about it. DHL are the best that I've experienced so far. Much more customer service and won't damage or leave parcels unattended at your door. I'm on a personal texting basis with my driver as they'll bring it to my work if I'm not at home on the day of delivery. They go the extra mile.
Figure collecting is an expensive hobby anyways. I just want the thing in my hands.

Wanting it ASAP is fine. We all have that preference. However, the key point is that it isn’t a financially sound choice if you are paying the same or more than the price of the figure itself to obtain it quicker. What you come to own has a real value that does not include that ballooned shipping cost, and more figures you buy, the more that extra cost will rack up.

Also, I ship a lot using DHL and my experience is that my packages do get banged up. It was less the case pre-pandemic, but has been a common occurrence in recent times, probably because they handle higher volumes now. So I do get my packages in more pristine condition if I order local these days. But, that does depend on where you live as well I guess.

ddarko1 day ago#111323487I think what you have to realize is that if you are collecting regularly, additional costs (shipping + duties + brokerage fees) and potential savings (even if little) are important since they add up very fast. So rather than impulsively want it immediately, the option of getting it late with savings is actually a superb option. Think about it this way. Getting it quick does not increase the value of what you own.

FGOWhale2Win1 day ago#111323391I don't understand how people don't get that shipping prices are going up?
Like petrol (at least in my country) has almost doubled in the last year; only makes sense that plane fuel also goes up therefore shipping goes up.
Companies still gotta make money, it sucks but it's inevitable.
Personally would take anyones DHL costs off thier hands to get her on time. Missed out on Okitan's Preorder so had to go with the shitty local anime distributer we've got here and they've pushed her release date back to August, but with the 4 month delay they had on Moriarty and Summer BB I doubt I'll see her until November.
Would take high shipping fees any day over slow AF companies that do free shipping but jack the figures price up anyways.

I emailed Amiami and they just responded. Apparently that shipping cost is correct, due to its volume to weight ratio. DHL can suck it.

I received my invoice today!!! To the US (TX) her EMS price is 12.2k yen and premium surface 8k yen. DHL is available but at a crazy price (25k+) as always.

Jeanne Alter by Alter is 10k yen EMS and 6.5k yen surface premium (I have a pre-owned one waiting for payment too)

I'm considering if this figure is worth that much money lol I thought it was going to be a simple cool looking figure like ITEM #13777, ITEM #5769, or ITEM #31755, but GSC went all out with this one...

Drekko1 day ago#111322779So I was just quoted by AmiAmi 26k JPY for DHL. I just sent a support ticket to verify that the price is correct. Cause I have had big boxes shipped to me in the from Japan that would be heavier than what this figure would be and DHL was never anywhere close to 200 USD.
I'm presuming the box would be the same size as one of the Estream Figures, maybe the same size as Megumin or Crystal Dress Rem.

So GSC decided to go big box premium package look in a time when shipping prices are through the roof. Feels like the hobby might have to be out on pause at this rate. Paying more than the same price as an expensive figure for shipping just hurts.
