It is a sheet of mirrored acrylic with the design laser engraved into the backing so light can pass through.

Late to the party, but it's a nice balance between custom made parts and commercial shelves. The result is absolutely neat and professional and makes the collection looks like it is much more than piled up toys! ;-) Great!
